It is difficult to have a good Christmas when work is rough. Christmas will soon be over, and it is difficult to go back to a job you dislike. It is even more difficult when you don’t have a job. How can you redeem your work, and not allow your work to ruin Christmas?
You can let Christmas change you. Maybe you can’t change your job, but you can be changed. Maybe you work with a different attitude. Maybe the things that always bother you, don’t bother you anymore. Maybe you work with a different sense of purpose. If you can’t change your job, maybe you can be changed.
You can remember that you get your dignity from God, not from your work. It is hard to celebrate the season when you feel beat down and worthless the rest of the year, but that does not have to be the case. You are not your job. You are a son or a daughter of the Most High God. Remember that, and then instead of your work ruining Christmas, Christmas can redeem your work.
You can remember that we have a story to tell. If you are a believer, then when you are at work, you are an ambassador for Jesus. You don’t have to be obvious about it. People will know what you believe. The way you conduct yourself will make them less hostile and even more receptive to Jesus.
In our sermon this Sunday we will talk about having a good Christmas even when work is rough.
