The Bible says that there is a new, better world coming. God has promised a new heaven and a new earth. Let’s look at what this new world will be like.
The new world will be the world the way it should be. Across the centuries, people have always wondered why the world as it is and the world as it should be are not one and the same. The biblical explanation is sin. When sin entered the world, it distorted everything. Things were no longer as they were intended to be. However, in the future, God will overlook the reality that we are living with problems of our own making. God will bring about a new world, the world the way it should be.
The new world will be a world without pain. We are promised a world where there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain. Suffering is so universal and we are so accustomed to it, that it is difficult to imagine a world without sorrow. However, the power of God is able to accomplish abundantly far more than we could ask or imagine. The new world will be a world without pain.
The new world will be a rehab project. It will be the world we have always known, only without the problems, without the violence, without the injustice, without all the things that come to mind when someone says, “What is wrong with this world?” The new world will not be new things, but all things new. A rehab project. As we know, new construction is easier, quicker, and cheaper than a rehab project. Rehabilitating this world was costly. It cost Jesus his life. Jesus died, not only to forgive us our sins, but also to redeem this creation. That is what Jesus accomplished on the cross. A new world.
In our sermon this Sunday we will talk about new hope for your future.
