Sometimes in life, we get stuck. We know we need to make changes, but we just can’t do it. We don’t have the information we need, or we don’t have the resources we need, or we are simply afraid. Good news! Jesus Christ gives us the courage to move forward.
The first step to moving forward is to understand that we are meant to move forward. That is the way God designed us. There is no staying put. At times we may feel as if we have arrived, but we cannot stay there. The Christian life is a continual moving forward.
The second step to moving forward is knowing what we are moving toward. We have our ultimate and our proximate goals. Our ultimate goal is to gain Christ. Our proximate goals along the way may be things like relationships or our calling or spiritual growth. The proximate goals are all part of the ultimate goal, moving toward Jesus.
The third step to moving forward is to get moving. Sometimes we just need to take the first step and see what happens next. God doesn’t want you to map out every step of your future. God wants you to take the first step and trust him.
In our sermon this Sunday we will talk about the courage to move forward.
