We believe in the church.

We believe in a teaching church. We need guidance for our spiritual lives. We need guidance for developing our personal character. We need guidance for our relationships. We need guidance for thinking about the big issues of the world. There is no better source than the church which teaches the wisdom of the apostles, wisdom that comes directly from Jesus.

We believe in an eating church. Every church eats together, because food means connection. Food means community. Everyone needs a place where they belong. For a lot of people, that place is the church.

We believe in a helping church. The letter to the Galatians says, “Let us work for the good of all, and especially for those of the family of faith.” We have seen churches that have harvested the crop of a farmer who died unexpectedly. We have seen churches where the men get together Saturday mornings to repair cars for single moms. We have seen churches that hold networking breakfasts for technology workers who have been laid off.

We believe in a praying church. We pray for one another. We pray to discern God’s will. We pray for the community where God has placed us. We pray to be the church God wants us to be. We pray, “Thy will be done.”

In our sermon this Sunday we will talk about why we believe in the church.
