Words are important. Words have the power to hurt and to heal. The truth is important. Dishonesty destroys relationships. Honesty makes us whole.
The Bible is made of words, and the Bible is true.
The Bible is made of words, most specifically the word of God. We know the Bible is the word of God because it is inspired, meaning that the Spirit of God is in it. We know the Bible is the word of God because it belongs to the people of God, the community of faith that has passed the Bible from generation to generation.
The Bible is true. The Bible is true in the things that matter. Things like who made us and what he is like and how we relate to him. Things like our fears and challenges and how we overcome them. Things how how we relate to other people. Things like our purpose. The Bible is true because it is a useful guide for our life.
In our sermon this Sunday we will talk about why we believe the Bible is true.
