“My cup overflows” says the Bible.  God gives abundantly, more than enough.  Out of the excess, we can bless others.  We can be available to others.  We can be helpful to others.  Yet, sometimes we are afraid to extend ourselves.  We fear we are not adequately resourced.  We think we may not have the time, the mental energy, the emotional energy, to do any more than take care of ourselves.

Why the reluctance to say “yes” to opportunities to do for others?  We lack faith.  We don’t trust God.  We don’t believe that where God guides, he also provides.  It is important to overcome our doubts.  God will give us the energy we need.  God will give us the patience we need.  God will give us the courage we need.  God will give us all we need, so that we can say “yes” more often and live the kind of life we want to live.

In our sermon this Sunday we will talk about living in the overflow.
