Warren Buffett said, “An idiot with a plan beats a genius without a plan.” We all need to make a plan for our money.
We need a plan that looks into the future. Some people never thought of making a plan. Some resist making a plan. Some would like to have a plan, but they are consumed by the demands of the moment. We do better in life when we have a plan for our money. A long range vision enables a person to withstand volatility. Bad seasons that could ruin a person become mere setbacks.
Planning ahead puts you in a position of power. Power is the ability to accomplish what you want to accomplish. We each have a divine purpose to fulfill. Perhaps we have a family to take care of. We want to be able to fulfill our responsibilities. We want to be successful in what we attempt. Making a plan for our money puts us in a position of power.
The key to making a plan is to take the first step. We can’t transform our financial situation overnight. Identify one thing you could do. It might be establishing an emergency fund. It might be scheduling debt repayment. It might be a savings plan for a house or your children’s education or retirement. Take the first step and enjoy watching your money work for you.
In our sermon this Sunday we will talk about making a plan for your money.
